Healthy On-The-Go Breakfast Options In Amarillo: Where To Go & What To Get

When you’re on the go — maybe running late to work after a rough morning — it can be difficult to find a decent, healthy breakfast that’s delicious while being good for you.

Most of your typical fast food chains have few (if any) options, but we’ve discovered some tasty breakfast dishes that we think you’ll love.

Best Healthy (And Fast) Breakfast Options In Amarillo

It’s said so much that it’s almost cliché, but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.

Unfortunately, it’s also one the easiest to skip. That's why it's so important for you to grab healthy, protein-rich breakfast options – even on the days when you're in a hurry.

To help you make the best breakfast options, here are some healthy, delicious choices you can pick up right here in Amarillo.

Açaí Bar Bowl – The Açaí Bar

The name may be hard to pronounce, but the Açaí Bar offers some delicious, tropical breakfast and lunch alternatives full of fruit superfoods. Açaí berries are known for their antioxidants and rich taste. They are the base and foundation of the Açaí Bar Bowl, blended with all-natural fruit and topped with organic granola, honey, peanut butter and other healthy topics of your choice.

In addition to açaí berries, bowls can also include other health foods like vitamin C-rich goji berries, protein-packed hemp seeds, fiber-full chia seeds, and even amino acid-containing bee pollen. If you're nervous about trying the exotic açaí berries, you can choose a Berry Banana Oat smoothie, containing oats to keep you full until lunch time.

Hulk Smoothie – Jiggle Berry

When made right, smoothies are the perfect healthy breakfast on the go. Fresh fruit offers plenty of antioxidants without piling on the calories, making this drink so much more than just a beverage.

Jiggle Berry is a unique smoothie shop in that all its smoothies are made with fresh fruit and vegetables. All smoothies are also lactose free. The Hulk contains spinach, peanut butter, banana, soy milk, and vanilla protein powder. It's an easy way to get protein and nutrient-rich veggies for breakfast while still tasting delicious. And it's sugar free.

Steel Cut Oats – Market Street

Steel cut oats are considered by some experts a "power food" because they are full of solube and insoluble fiber, protein, and vitamins and minerals. They are lower in carbohydrates than traditional oats and can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Market Street offers a delicious selection of steel cut oats you can grab and eat on the go. Additionally, they have a yogurt bar and selection of cut fresh fruit, all healthier alternatives to sugary, carb-rich breakfast snacks.

Greek Yogurt Parfait – Chick-fil-A

This breakfast is protein-rich at 12 grams per serving. It’s only 230 calories and includes deliciously fresh strawberries and blueberries, making it full of antioxidants and nutrients. The granola is made with whole oats, a variety of nuts, raisins, and cranberries.

With this dish, the granola is served on the side in its own packet, so you have the option of forgoing it for a completely grain-free breakfast. Doing so yields a little less protein (10 grams instead of 12) but also fewer calories.

The Monk Special – Torchy’s Tacos

A taco may be the last thing you’d consider for breakfast, but this tasty dish is a great option. Though maybe not as healthy as some of your choices, it certainly beats donuts and pastries.

At 400 calories, The Monk breakfast taco is made with eggs, bacon, green chiles, and cheese. It boasts a whopping 26 grams of protein, meaning you won’t be starving within an hour of eating it. For a grain-free option, simply scoop the ingredients with a fork and skip the tortilla.

Skipping breakfast can ruin your entire day. Consider these options instead of going hungry.
